Keystone Classroom

Keystone Classroom provides thought-provoking, fun, interactive programs that engage and inspire students to learn about complex species, their habitats, and practices for safe coexistence.  We wish to instill a sense of pride about wildlife stewardship in the next generation and encourage children to invest in a sustainable future for our wild heritage.  Education is critical to learning coexistence.

Learning Through Fun
We take our programs into schools and also offer them at fairs and family venues.  We invite children, teachers and parents to enter the world of wildlife and experience what it is like for bears to forage for food and wolves to stalk their prey.  By giving children and adults an insider’s view of predator-prey instincts, we help them to internalize how human actions influence outcomes for wildlife.

 Interactive Games
Keystone Classroom is in session with growl and howl interactive games and an educational trunk for hands-on fun:

  • Watershed Festival2The Bear Essentials:  Our bear program and game help participants learn basic bear biology, natural bear foods, caloric needs and food value, and demonstrates how bears can easily get into trouble when human food is available.
  • What About Wolves?:  Our wolf program includes a role-playing game that educates players about basic wolf biology, pack structure and communication, hunting, and predator/prey relationships.  It also sets the stage for discussion of wolf-livestock conflicts and engages players in problem-solving.
  • Wildlife Trunk:  Skulls, pelts, tracks….and more!  Our wildlife trunk is loaded with specimens, entertaining activities and supporting curricula and is available free-of-charge to Kindergarten through Eighth grade classrooms and community organizations.
